ABOUT
ABOUT
It is impossible to appreciate what no longer exists, or what has been so altered by changes that it has lost its authenticity and integrity. Thus, the conservation and restoration of stained glass is of prime importance. We at The Art of Glass, Inc., can provide that means of ethical preservation. Since 1987, Kathy Jordan's studio has been fabricating, painting, conserving and restoring stained glass projects of all sizes. The Studio's expertise is in mulitple-layer opalescent windows, such as, but not limited to, Tiffany, LaFarge and Maitland Armstrong, along with single-layered painted windows by Mayer of Munich, Heaton - Butler & Bayne, Connick and Willet. Owner, Kathy Jordan, specializes in historic paint replication, having devoted the past twenty years to the study of vitreous glass & china painting. Whether working through a designer, an architect or directly with the client, The Art of Glass, Inc. staff provides solutions that ensure quality and longevity of the stained glass. Each commission is handled on an individual basis, whether liturgical, institutional, commercial or residential. "We are committed to maintaining the highest standards in workmanship. Painting with Kathy Jordan - Ken Leap 2012 Workshop Schedule - click for more info Oct. 15 -19 , 2012 Oct. 22 - 26, 2012 "Kathy & I have taught together now for nearly a decade. She brings a focused energy to the classroom. She is generous in sharing her knowledge and problem solving in her approach. Kathy is able to assess what each student needs to learn and can also formulate a plan to help them reach their potential. I truly believe we are offering one of the finest opportunities to learn the technical craft of glass painting available today." J. Kenneth Leap
"It was my personal pleasure to see first hand Kathy's demonstration of her considerable skill in a technique that demands a total commitment for improvement. She is emerging as one of America's treasures in this most difficult of art forms." Andrew Young, Past President Stained Glass Association of America "I am amazed with your saturation of painting and your untiring search for excellence in becoming so highly skilled. Above all you are generous in sharing your skill with others. We are thankful that you are soaring from a serious student to master glass painter. Kathy Jordan, a tribute to painters of glass." Nick Parrendo Hunt Studios, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania"Kathy is passionate about her art and a leader in the field. She devotes untold hours volunteering her time, promoting the craft, creating community, sharing her very essence. She is a key figure and all of us in the field owe her a great debt for her important contributions. A Kathy Jordan workshop instills not only greater insight on technique, but a genuine fondness for a most incredible lady." Laurie Nessel, Lead Instructor Glass Studio, Mesa Arts Center, Mesa, Arizona "Kathy Jordan is a fantastic glass painter: accomplished, diverse, and creative. As a dedicated scholar she has endeavored to train with a broad spectrum of master painters, thus enabling her to function most competently as a replication painter capable of asserting any prerequisite style. But beyond the restoration industry, she has also developed an artistic style all her own; one that resonates with both a disciplined reverence for the tradition of historical glass painting and the playfulness of a true creative spirit who is exploring her own imaginative vision. It is extremely rare to find a professional glass painter who excels at both the craft and art of their vocation. Kathy Jordan is such an artist." Peter McGrain "Kathy Jordan and Ken Leap hosted this special invitational event. We spent our days in the Ken Leap's glass studio at Wheaton Arts in Millville, NJ where the atmosphere was filled with creativity and excitement for learning, an environment to share ideas. We spent our evenings in the historic Cape May NJ, beautiful season surroundings. The week was truly an unforgettable time. Let's do this again!" Kristi Lambrecht Lambrecht Studios, Omaha, Nebreska,
